THE ONETEAM
COLGAN FOUNDATION FAMILY
ONETEAMCF - was established in 2006 by Rob Powers, as a way to pay it forward for two military brothers who gave it all. Over the years the nonprofit all volunteer effort has focused on resiliency minded programming for combat deployed service members and communities around the world.
After 14 years and well over 800 based visits, the nonprofit effort is now focused on supporting the community of Paralympic Surf - Ski and Climbing as well as disabled veterans.
Our work in El Salvador started in 2010, and has continued to this day, providing subject matter expertise in the area of sport development, positive youth development and emergency first responder training and resiliency programming.
SURF CITY EL SALVADOR - Six years ago President Nayib Bukele, was elected by a landslide of popularity which continues to this day. Not long after taking office, President Bukele announced that the coastal beach and surf communities would be rebranded ‘Surf City El Salvador’ and receive focused development support to ignite awareness around the countries world renowned year-round surf breaks and beach communities.
Our efforts are in direct support of the President’s vision and we in turn have partnered with the Council for Persons with Disabilities, El Salvador’s Paralympic Committee, El Salvador’s Surf, Ski and Climbing Federations - who have designated ONETEAMSV as the Paralympic Administrators for the sports in the country. Our efforts also continue to be in direct support of countries National Sports Institute ( INDES ), El Salvador Olympic and Paralympic Committees, and Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Homeland Security (Bomberos and Protection Civil) as well as Tourism Police and National Parks Staff.

THE NAMING OF THE CENTER - We have built and named our training center after Sean Colgan, a member of the 1980 Summer Olympic USA Men’s 8 Rowing Team. In March of 1980, the US Government announced a boycott of the Moscow Summer Olympics, due to the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan. Unlike many Olympic bound USA Athletes, Sean and his teammates announced very quickly that they were Americans first and foremost and would proudly support the government’s decision.
As a result of their public display of support for the government’s decision to boycott, ( some athletes skirted around the boycott and competed anyway ) Sean and his teammates where awarded the Congressional Gold Medal - the truly highest award given by the United States.
In the spirit of getting knocked down, but never quitting, which is what Sean and his teammates displayed that year back in 1980, by going on to a silver medal in the World Cup that season that should have been an Olympic Season, we have named the para training center after this long time founder, stakeholder and board member of our nonprofit ONETEAM El Salvador and ONETEAM Colgan Foundation our parent NGO based in Cleveland, Ohio U.S.A.
